Dear Parents:
Thank you for visiting our student ministry’s webpage. We hope that our site assists you in connecting your son/daughter to our ministry. Our goal as a student ministry is to partner with you in discipling your kids to become fully devoted Christ followers. Your task is formidable, and we are prepared to do everything that we can to equip you to fulfill your calling from God. The following represent specific things that we are committed to as a student ministry.
Develop Spiritual Habits: it is our desire that every student that plugs into our student ministry become a “self-feeder.” That means that they understand and know how to walk with Jesus Christ and grow on their own. As a result, we put a large emphasis on teaching students the spiritual disciplines of the Christian life. From reading God’s word, to spending time in prayer, every student needs the essential tools to grow.
Significant Relationships with Adults: students are often times negatively influenced by their peers throughout the week. What students need is godly relationships with mature adults. On purpose we recruit and train the best adult workers possible to serve as mini-student pastors. Each of these leaders invests in, prays for, and teaches God’s word to the students assigned to their life group.
Challenging Spiritual Experiences: a student’s faith becomes real when they are required to step out of their comfort zone. For that reason, we intentionally create events that stretch students’ faith so that they are forced to rely on God in ways they never have before. From mission trips to prayer and fasting retreats, we want students to personalize their faith.
Partnering with Parents: you and you alone are given the responsibility to disciple and train your child to love and adore Jesus; overwhelming task huh? The good thing is you are not alone! God has appointed the church to assist you in the process. As a result, at Westwood we strive throughout the year to assist, equip, train, and resource you as the parent. We are here to partner with you in the discipleship of your students.
Thank you for allowing us to partner with you, and for your child’s participation in our ministry. God has great things in store and we consider it a privilege serving you.
To God be the Glory,
The Student Ministry Team
